We are looking for a Materials Scientists to join our Green Metals Team in the Greater Boston Area, Massachusetts, USA.
In Outokumpu’s Green Metals Team, we aim to leverage the best available avenues in both state of the art technologies and emerging disruptive innovations to establish a new paradigm in environmentally sustainable metals production. Our scientific and engineering efforts are focused on inventing and validating innovative solutions for decarbonization and new product development in extractive and chemical metallurgy. We are seeking a decidedly motivated reactor modelling scientist with a passion for innovation to join our Team. Together, we will collaboratively address technical challenges in ferroalloy and stainless steel manufacturing. As a member of our Team, you will be key part of our effort to design, demonstrate, and implement new mineral treatment and metal smelting processes for a range of materials and applications.
Research and study the structures and chemical properties of various natural and synthetic or composite materials, including metals, alloys, rubber, ceramics, semiconductors, polymers, and glass. Determine ways to strengthen or combine materials or develop new materials with new or specific properties for use in a variety of products and applications. Includes glass scientists, ceramic scientists, metallurgical scientists and polymer scientists.
Requirements:
• Minimum M.S., preferred Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in one of the following areas: Metallurgy, materials science, chemical engineering, inorganic chemistry, or a closely related field
• Strong theoretical background in chemical thermodynamics, kinetics, mass transport, and inorganic materials chemistry
• Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience with high temperature materials processing in an academic, laboratory, or industrial setting
• Creativity and a strong desire to innovate in the metals industry
• Expertise in the design, execution, and analysis of pyrometallurgical, solid-gas reaction, or melt experiments
Salary ranges:
Wage Level 1: $90,334.00
Wage Level 2: $105,789.00
Wagel Level 3: $121,222.00
Wage Level IV: $136,677.00
Mean (H-2B): $121,389.00
