Maintenance Planner - Major shutdown (Advanced English)

Objective: Plan and schedule Major Plant Shutdowns safely and sustainably, ensuring activities are completed on time and according to plan before, during, and after the shutdown. The role focuses on risk and cost reduction, performance optimization, and efficient resource utilization.
Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Professional Degree and License required).

More than 5 years of maintenance experience as a Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance Planner.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

CMRP and/or PMP certification is considered a strong plus.

Required: Extensive experience as a Planning and Scheduling Specialist for Major Plant Shutdowns, outages, and turnarounds across industrial sectors such as Manufacturing, Power Generation, Petrochemicals, Oil & Gas, and related industries.

Strong technical knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Project, Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP PM, IBM Maximo, or similar platforms.

Project Management knowledge and experience.
-
Personnel management experience (more than 5 years).

Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

Responsibilities:
Planning and Scheduling of Activities
-
Define shutdown objectives and scope in collaboration with Asset Management (AM), Operations, and Maintenance departments.
-
Manage the availability of required resources (services, contracts, equipment, spare parts, and materials) in coordination with the Supply Chain department to ensure successful execution of all scope activities.

Develop detailed shutdown schedules, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities, identifying the critical path and adjusting schedules according to operational plant requirements.

Update shutdown schedules in real time during execution and communicate progress to all departments.
-
Resolve and/or report any issues that could jeopardize compliance with the shutdown schedule.
Compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental Regulations:

Ensure shutdown activities are planned and executed in full compliance with plant Safety, Health, and Environmental procedures and applicable regulations.

Ensure all activities are planned with appropriate risk assessments.
-
Develop contingency plans in coordination with the Safety, Health, Environmental, and Protection departments for use when required.
Budget Control

Prepare the shutdown budget.
-
Monitor and control expenditures to ensure compliance with the approved budget.
-
Report any deviations from the approved budget.
Analysis and Continuous Improvement
-
Document lessons learned from each shutdown event.
-
Track and ensure completion of improvement actions resulting from post-shutdown analyses.
-
Manage replenishment of spare parts used during the shutdown and ensure availability for future events.

Maintain proper documentation and reporting processes.
-
Collect reports of all activities performed during the shutdown.
-
Ensure accurate recording and storage of information generated during the planning and execution phases.

Prepare the final shutdown report.
Shared Responsibilities:

Safety: Meet safety and environmental KPIs in strict compliance with current procedures, documentation, and reporting requirements.

Operations: Collaborate with Operations according to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) to define outage and isolation windows.

Maintenance: Ensure activities are executed safely, on time, and according to plan.
-
Procurement and Supply Chain: Closely monitor requisitions and purchase orders for supplies, spare parts, contracted services, and other materials.

Contractors: Ensure strict adherence to the plant's work culture and safety standards.

Projects: Define scope, schedules, and resource requirements for various CAPEX projects and monitor associated costs.
