Location: Close to Outokumpu’s main European hubs (Helsinki or Tornio/Kemi, Finland; Düsseldorf region, Germany; Avesta region, Sweden; Vilnius, Lithuania).
Purpose of the Role
Outokumpu is seeking a development-oriented Supply Chain Business Controller for Finance team, with a strong focus on inventory value management. In this pivotal role, you will be at the heart of business planning, serving as a key liaison between Supply Chain and Finance. You will be one of the key persons providing insights to both directions: Steering support, financial and business controlling expertise for SCM, and inventory planning and material flow expertise towards Finance teams. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the stainless steel business, encompassing end-to-end supply chain and finance processes, while also delving into intricate details.
You will report to the Senior Manager, SCM Controlling Business Line Advanced Materials, within a multinational team of three. While the team primarily collaborates through digital tools, regular in-person meetings necessitate occasional travel. You will work closely with various supply chain and business controlling teams, enjoying a hybrid working environment with flexible hours.
What You Will Do
- Reporting and Forecasting
- Prepare detailed reports on supply chain KPIs, focusing on both operational metrics and their financial impact. Track metrics such as inventory structure, turnover, delivery performance, and inventory value.
- Manage the preparation of forecasts, ensuring they reflect realistic expectations. Track forecast accuracy, identify discrepancies, and collaborate with several teams to enhance forecast precision.
- Financial Analysis
- Analyze key financial components like material flows, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS). Calculate and interpret the financial impact of inventory movements on profitability.
- Monitor inventory balance sheet values and ensure alignment with P&L statements. Provide insights to improve working capital and cash flow, aiming to deliver actionable insights related to networking capital, business cash flow, and COGS.
- Collaboration
- Utilize strong communication and collaboration skills to work closely with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, finance, and operations, aligning goals and strategies. Facilitate transparent communication and share key insights, risks, and opportunities.
- Challenge assumptions and support teams in achieving shared goals, such as optimizing material flow strategies and understanding inventory costs.
- SCM Business Partnering
- Partner with the Supply Chain Management (SCM) teams to enhance material flow and inventory control. Support SCM in optimizing the flow of goods and aligning inventory levels with business decisions.
- Provide financial insights to assist SCM in better planning and forecasting, challenge existing processes, and recommend improvements. Monitor the financial impact of SCM strategies and adjust approaches as needed.
- Development
- Develop and refine reporting processes for efficiency, accuracy, and relevance. Optimize tools and systems used for financial reporting and forecasting.
- Enhance forecasting models, identify gaps in current processes, and recommend new tools or techniques to improve forecasting accuracy, inventory value management, and financial reporting.
What You Should Bring
- Ability to quickly learn, comprehend, and adapt to new models and systems.
- Self-driven with a strong desire to improve processes and personal skills, coupled with good execution capabilities.
- Advanced skills in spreadsheet and relational database tools (Excel, PowerBI), including big data.
- Rounded communication and influencing abilities in a multinational environment (English as the working language), with different seniority levels.
- High problem-solving and hands-on mentality.
- Flexibility and resilience to work accurately under tight schedules, both with repetitive routine tasks and ad hoc requests.
- Experience with OneStream is appreciated.
Must-Haves:
- Experience in an equivalent role, particularly with inventory movements and valuation topics (e.g., forecasting BS value, change in stock for P/L, networking capital, and business cash flow).
- Experience in a manufacturing business.
- Degree in relevant field (Bachelors or Masters)
