Reliability Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Reliability Specialist to join our Melt Shop team in Calvert, North Mobile County, Alabama.
 

Objective: The purpose of this role is to provide field-validated insight into equipment condition, maintenance strategy effectiveness, and execution readiness, enabling informed planning, reliability decision-making, and continuous improvement.

The Reliability Specialist supports Asset Planners, Reliability Engineers, Maintenance, Operations, and PdM teams by ensuring maintenance strategies and asset data are grounded in actual operating conditions, verified field information, and structured audits of critical assets.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Melt Shop or heavy industrial processes
  • Background in maintenance, reliability, or auditing
  • Experience with PM, PdM, CbM, and ODM practices
  • Experience with spare parts inspection and field walkdowns

Preferred Skills & Capabilities:

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Strong understanding of equipment failure modes and maintenance strategies
  • Ability to provide practical recommendations to asset and reliability teams
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Strategy Enablement (PM / PdM / CbM / ODM)
  • Validate that maintenance tasks align with actual equipment condition, failure risk, and operating context
  • Support ODM implementation and sustainment through field engagement
  • Identify gaps, redundancies, or ineffective maintenance tasks
  • Communicate improvement opportunities to Planning and Reliability teams

Role Scope & Accountability – Responsible For

  • Supporting PM, PdM, CbM, and ODM strategies through field validation
  • Verifying equipment condition, configuration, and operational readiness
  • Supporting engineering design intent through field verification and feedback
  • Supporting spare part selection, acceptance, and functional validation
  • Conducting field audits to identify execution gaps and readiness losses
  • Providing accurate, structured feedback to Planning and Reliability teams

Physical Requirements:

•    Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards
•    Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs and ramps) same as ability to walk long distances and demonstrate good balance on uneven terrain or maneuvering obstacles
•    Ability to withstand exposure to elevated ambient temperature for extended periods of time
•    Must be able to work in extreme heat
•    Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, dust and asphalt
•    Must be able to work in a high noise environment where the use of hearing protection is required
•    Ability to frequently use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects/materials
•    Ability to work in areas with strong magnetic fields
•    Bend, twist, lift, stand, walk, reach, see, move, and hear as required by specific position 
•    Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms
•    Must be able to communicate utilizing radios, phones and/or intercom systems 

 

Salary: 92,100-115,100
