We are seeking a Predictive Maintenance Technician to join our team Central Utilities team in Calvert, North Mobile, County.
Objective: The Predictive Maintenance Technician ensures equipment reliability through advanced condition monitoring and proactive maintenance strategies aligned with ISO 55000 Asset Management principles. This role leverages multiple PdM technologies to detect early signs of failure, reduce downtime, and optimize asset lifecycle performance while maintaining compliance with ISO standards, reliability and site safety programs.
Salary: 35.13 hr.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: 2-year technical degree, Predictive / Condition-Based Monitoring certification, equivalent military training preferred OR 5+ years Reliability/Asset Management industrial maintenance experience.
- Skills & Certifications: Certification in at least two PdM technologies within the first year; strong mechanical and electro-mechanical background; familiarity with ISO standards for reliability and maintenance; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and SAP.
- Other Requirements: Proven safety record and excellent attendance; strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience - PdM Certifications / Condition-Based Monitoring aligned with Asset Management Principles ISO 55000
- MRT Certification (Machine Reliability Technician) or similar PdM-focused credential
- CMRT (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician) validates the technical skills of maintenance and reliability technicians.
- Vibration Analysis – ISO Category I–IV Vibration Analyst (ISO 18436-2); ISO 10816.
- Oil Analysis / Tribology – ICML MLA/MLT; ISO 18436-4; ISO 4406.
- Precision Shaft Alignment – Laser Alignment Training; ISO 1940; ISO 20816.
- Ultrasound – Level I–III Ultrasound Technician; ISO 18436-8.
- Thermography – Level I–III Infrared Thermographer; ISO 18436-7; ISO 6781.
- FARO Laser Trackers – FARO Certified Operator; ISO 10360.
- Motor Circuit Evaluation (MCE) Testing – PdM Electrical Testing Certification; ISO 18436-12.
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) – ASNT Level I–III or ISO 9712.
- Drone Inspection – FAA Part 107 + PdM Drone Inspection Training; ISO 21384.
- Instrumentation Calibration – ISA CCST; ISO/IEC 17025.
- Dynamic Balancing – Balancing Technician Certification; ISO 21940.
Responsibilities: Predictive Maintenance & Condition-Based Activities
- Vibration Analysis: Monitor rotating equipment per ISO standards; detect misalignment, unbalance, looseness, and bearing/gearbox issues; set baselines and perform acceptance tests.
- Oil Analysis / Tribology: Collect samples per ISO cleanliness standards; review lab reports for wear and lubrication health; recommend corrective actions; maintain trend history.
- Precision Shaft Alignment: Use laser tools to correct misalignment; apply thermal growth and soft-foot adjustments; document results and maintain records.
- Thermography: Inspect electrical panels, motors, and bearings for abnormal heat signatures; identify hotspots and insulation failures.
- Ultrasound Testing: Detect air leaks, steam trap failures, and bearing lubrication issues; verify valve integrity.
- Motor Circuit Evaluation (MCE): Assess motor health, insulation resistance, and rotor condition; identify electrical faults before failure.
- Dynamic Balancing: Balance rotating components to reduce vibration and extend bearing life.
- Instrumentation Calibration: Ensure sensors and gauges meet ISO/IEC 17025 standards for accuracy.
- Drone Inspections: Perform aerial thermal and visual checks on hard-to-reach assets for safety and efficiency.
- Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM): Monitor real-time data from sensors (temperature, vibration, pressure); use wireless systems (e.g., Waites) for continuous asset health tracking; apply analytics to predict failures and schedule maintenance only when needed.
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Use ultrasonic, magnetic particle, or dye penetrant method for structural integrity checks.Data Management & Reporting (SAP Integration)
- Purpose of SAP Integration: Central CMMS for managing work orders, notifications, and asset history; ensures traceability, actionability, and ISO compliance.
- Key Integration Points: Asset master data mapping; PdM findings create SAP notifications; notifications convert to work orders; measurement documents log PdM readings; attachments store reports and images.
- Workflow Example: PdM finding → SAP Notification → Work Order → Execution → Feedback.
- ISO Compliance: ISO 55000 (Asset Management), ISO 14224 (Equipment data), ISO 10816/20816 (Vibration), ISO 4406 (Oil cleanliness).
- Ensure Real-time visibility of asset health; automated maintenance planning; historical trend analysis; audit-ready documentation.
