Mobile Equipment Technician

Location: 

Calvert, AL, US

We are seeking an experienced Mobile Equipment Technician to join our team in Calvert, North Mobile County, Alabama.

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of heavy mobile equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five years’ experience repairing heavy equipment or diesel machinery as Diesel mechanic
  • CAT, Volvo, Komatsu, Sennebogen, or Liebherr equipment
  • Certification as Volvo Penta engine certification
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Experience in scrap, recycling, mining, logging, or industrial environments
  • Experience with current application of CAN bus data communication and on-board diagnostic systems.
  • Experience in supervision of other employees or Team Leader, Shop Foreman duties.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read service manuals and schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Valid driver’s license

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on heavy mobile equipment
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, brake, and transmission systems
  • Inspect equipment for safety and operational issues
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures and minimize equipment downtime
  • Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems
  • Maintain maintenance logs, service records, and work orders
  • Conduct welding and fabrication repairs when needed
  • Operate diagnostic tools and service equipment
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns in the yard or field
  • Keep work areas clean and organized

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards
  • Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs and ramps) same as ability to walk long distances and demonstrate good balance on uneven terrain or maneuvering obstacles
  • Ability to withstand exposure to elevated ambient temperature for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat
  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, dust and asphalt
  • Must be able to work in a high noise environment where the use of hearing protection is required
  • Ability to frequently use hand or fingers to handle or feel objects/materials
  • Ability to work in areas with strong magnetic fields
  • Bend, twist, lift, stand, walk, reach, see, move, and hear as required by specific position 
  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to communicate utilizing radios, phones and/or intercom systems 
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to safely use power and hand tools 
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial vehicles and equipment for tasks and diagnostic purposes, including overhead cranes. 
     

 Salary: 35.13
