As a global leader in Stainless Steel, we're seeking a Mechanical Engineer be part of our Cold Rolling Works Maintenance team in Calvert, North Mobile County, Alabama.
Objective: The purpose of this position is to evaluate, implement and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of Stainless Steel. The Mechanical Engineer’s primary focus is the continuous improvement of the reliability and mechanical systems at the Cold Rolling Works Facility. Define opportunities for improvement, measure key parameters, analyze the acquired data, implement the chosen solution, and control the process to verify the optimization and efficiency.
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or in a related field
• > 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a manufacturing facility.
• Proven working experience in mechanical engineering projects
• Strong technical aptitude related to rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, interpretating schematics
• Ability to analyze data and trends and identify opportunities through analysis.
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing operations and equipment.

Job Responsibilities:
• Identify opportunities to improve the safety and reliability of the assets
• Work in concert with the Electrical and Process engineers to identify improvements and implement opportunities for improvement.
• Provide technical guidance and training to the mechanical maintenance team members.
• Facilitate the identification and/or implementation of Best Practices and Continuous Improvement across all teams.
• Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
• Maintain environmental and safety compliance requirements.
• Identify safety hazards and opportunities for improvement in Safety.
• Identify environmental opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and deliver training in relevant areas of expertise.
• Lead maintenance activities and team members for maintenance outages, shutdowns and daily activities.
• Develop LOTO procedures for related area equipment.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs for area related equipment.
• This is a position that will require a hands-on approach to help team members during planned and unplanned equipment shutdowns.
Physical requirements:
• Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards
• Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs and ramps) same as ability to walk long distances and demonstrate good balance on uneven terrain or maneuvering obstacles
• Ability to withstand exposure to elevated ambient temperature for extended periods of time
• Must be able to work in extreme heat
• Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, dust and asphalt
• Must be able to work in a high noise environment where the use of hearing protection is required
• Ability to frequently use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects/materials
• Ability to work in areas with strong magnetic fields
• Bend, twist, lift, stand, walk, reach, see, move, and hear as required by specific position
• Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms
• Must be able to communicate utilizing radios, phones and/or intercom systems
• Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques
• Ability to safely use power and hand tools
• Ability to safely operate powered industrial vehicles and equipment for tasks and diagnostic purposes, including overhead cranes.
Salary range: USD. 92,400-127,100
