Logistics Analyst

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Logistics Analyst to support transportation and supply chain in Calvert, North Mobile County, Al.

 

Objective: This role is responsible for analyzing freight activity, optimizing transportation performance, monitoring operational KPIs, and supporting strategic logistics decision-making through data analysis and operational reporting. The Logistics Analyst will work cross-functionally with transportation providers, rail carriers, and internal stakeholders to improve service levels, reduce transportation costs, identify operational inefficiencies, and support continuous improvement initiatives. In addition to analytical responsibilities, the role will provide operational support and ad hoc coordination for daily freight movements as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Analytics, Operations, or related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in logistics, transportation analysis, supply chain operations, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Experience working with transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, or logistics reporting tools.
  • Ability to interpret large datasets and translate findings into operational recommendations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting trucking, rail, barge, vessel, or intermodal transportation operations.
  • Knowledge of transportation metrics and terminology including detention, demurrage, drayage, dwell time, and freight optimization.
  • Experience with Power BI, SAP, Excel, PowerPoint or similar reporting platforms.

Familiarity with carrier performance management and transportation cost analysis

Key Responsibilities:

Transportation Analytics & Reporting

  • Analyze transportation performance across trucking, rail, barge, and vessel operations.
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPIs related to freight cost, transit time, on-time performance, equipment utilization, detention, and demurrage.
  • Identify trends, service failures, bottlenecks, and cost-saving opportunities within the transportation network.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on shipment delays, service disruptions, and operational exceptions.
  • Support transportation budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis initiatives.
  • Monitor carrier performance metrics and provide recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports for leadership and cross functional teams.

Multi-Modal Transportation Support

  • Support coordination of freight movements, scheduling activities, and shipment visibility.
  • Monitor railcar, vessel, truck and intermodal utilization/capacity

Process Improvement & Strategic Support

  • Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency, transportation visibility, and operational workflows.
  • Assist with implementation and optimization of transportation systems and reporting tools.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through process mapping and data analysis.
  • Participate in cross-functional supply chain and logistics projects.
  • Provide analytical support during peak shipping periods and operational disruptions.
  • Tracking and updating SOP’s within the department

Ad Hoc Operational Support

  • Assist with urgent transportation coordination and shipment issue resolution as needed.
  • Provide backup support for dispatching, scheduling, and freight tracking activities.
  • Support special projects, audits, and operational initiatives assigned by management.

 

Salary: USD.79,200-99,000
