As a global leader in Stainless Steel, we're seeking a Fire System Coordinator and be part of our team in Calvert, North Mobile County Alabama.
Objective: The Fire System Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that fire protection systems are properly installed, maintained, and inspected to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. This role involves coordinating with various departments, contractors, and authorities to ensure the effective implementation and operation of fire protection systems. Coordinator will manage and support maintenance activities planning in the event of breakdown, shutdown, and any other maintenance activity as requested. The position is of primary importance for the maximization of shop productivity and quality at an optimal cost and the highest quality levels. Coordinator will workday-turn shift primarily with off-shifts as needed to support outages, projects and upset conditions
Job qualifications and experience requirements:
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire safety protection system design, installation, and maintenance.
- Professional certification(s) such as Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or Certified Fire Inspector (CFI) preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of fire codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., NFPA, IBC).
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and fire protection system analysis tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP is a requirement

Responsibilities:
System Design and Installation:
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to design fire protection systems based on building codes and specific project requirements.
- Oversee the installation of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire suppression systems, and other fire protection equipment.
Maintenance and Inspection:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all fire protection systems.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure that fire protection systems are functioning correctly and are in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with external service providers for maintenance and repair activities as needed.
- Support Operations as needed to meet business objectives
- Providing planned overview for Utilities Coordinators
- Responsible for initial screening of work orders and identification of scope of work
- Creating suborders for corrective work needed from PM's and PdM's and assigning revisions to enable work order management
Code Compliance:
- Stay up to date with local, state, and national fire codes, regulations, and standards.
- Ensure that all fire protection systems meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
Emergency Response Planning:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct fire drills and training sessions to educate employees on emergency procedures and evacuation protocols.
Budgeting and Cost Management:
- Develop and manage budgets for fire protection system maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
- Identify cost-effective solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of fire protection systems.

- Direct reports: 0
- Available for: Monday through Friday, days, will workday-turn shift primarily with off-shifts as needed to support outages, projects and upset conditions.
- On Call required
Physical requirements:
• Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards
• Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs and ramps) same as ability to walk long distances and demonstrate good balance on uneven terrain or maneuvering obstacles
• Ability to withstand exposure to elevated ambient temperature for extended periods of time
• Must be able to work in extreme heat
• Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, dust and asphalt
• Must be able to work in a high noise environment where the use of hearing protection is required
• Ability to frequently use hand or fingers to handle or feel objects/materials
• Ability to work in areas with strong magnetic fields
• Bend, twist, lift, stand, walk, reach, see, move, and hear as required by specific position
• Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms
• Must be able to communicate utilizing radios, phones and/or intercom systems
• Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques
• Ability to safely use power and hand tools
• Ability to safely operate powered industrial vehicles and equipment for tasks and diagnostic purposes, including overhead crane
Salary range: USD.88,300 -121,400
