Communications Specialist

Location:

Avesta, SE Degerfors, SE Torshälla, SE

Embark on a transformative journey with Outokumpu, the global leader in sustainable stainless steel. With our EVOLVE strategy, we are building on our strong position in stainless steel while expanding into advanced materials, alloys and innovative technologies.

As part of our Corporate Communications team, we are now looking for a proactive Communications Specialist to support our operations and leadership in Sweden. You will help translate business priorities into relevant and engaging communications while ensuring alignment with Outokumpu’s overall communications and brand.

Location: Avesta, Degerfors or Nyby, with hybrid working possibilities based on business needs.

You will work closely with local management and other stakeholders in Sweden as well as colleagues across our global organization. In addition to your responsibilities in Sweden, you will support European and Group-wide communications projects and campaigns, giving you broad exposure to communications across an international industrial company.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate and drive communications in Sweden in collaboration with local management, HR and other stakeholders, including planning communications activities and supporting townhalls and other key events.

  • Identify and develop engaging stories and content about our people, operations and business for internal and external channels, including our intranet, social media and other digital channels.

  • Create high-quality communications materials in different formats, including articles, key messages, presentations, social media content, photos and videos.

  • Support external communications activities in Sweden, including handling and coordinating media requests.

  • Drive the implementation of the Outokumpu brand in Sweden and ensure consistency with Group brand guidelines.

  • Support communications projects and campaigns across Europe and the wider Outokumpu organization.

  • Measure and follow up on communications activities, using data, insights and feedback to continuously improve their effectiveness.

  • Act as a local superuser for digital communications tools and channels, helping stakeholders make effective use of our communications platforms.

What you bring?

  • A relevant university-level degree, for example in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field.

  • Few years of experience in communications, marketing or a related role.

  • Strong writing and content creation skills, with the ability to turn complex topics into clear and engaging communications for different audiences and channels.

  • Excellent written and spoken Swedish and English. Fluency in other Outokumpu languages is considered an advantage (Finnish, German, Spanish).

  • Experience with communications channels and tools such as intranets, newsletters, social media and collaboration platforms.

  • Good project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage several activities and stakeholders simultaneously.

  • A proactive and collaborative way of working and confidence in engaging with stakeholders across different levels and functions.

  • Curiosity and an eagerness to learn and develop as a communications professional in an international environment.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to take on a broad and visible communications role with real ownership. You will drive communications for our Swedish operations while also contributing to projects and campaigns internationally as well.

You will work close to the business and its leaders, finding and telling stories from our operations and people and turning business priorities into communications that make an impact. From leadership communications and employee engagement to social media, media relations and international campaigns, the role gives you exposure to a broad range of communications disciplines.

You will join an international Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs function where you will have room to take initiative, bring your own ideas and continue developing your expertise, while positioning Outokumpu as we evolve and enter the next chapter of the company.
