Your Impact:
- Continuously scan, prioritize and investigate potential future markets, trends and technologies to determine their attractiveness for stainless steel and advanced material products
- Analyse new, Oil& Gas and emerging application areas (new to OTK) and assess their commercial significance for stainless steel applications
- Develop and apply a structured, repeatable process for opportunity evaluation
- Conduct both desktop and field research — including conferences, forums, institutes and universities — combining technical understanding with commercial acumen
- Determine the rough commercial potential (value) of specific opportunities and markets for OTK
- Contribute to the new idea Generation within CS&P
- Collaborate closely with Sales, R&D, Product Management, AM Development and Market Intelligence teams, as well as Value Chain partners, customers, associations and industry bodies
Your Profile:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree — ideally combining a technical and commercial background
- Experience in business development, market research, technology scouting, or a related strategic function
- Strong ability to “see” potential new opportunities for stainless steel material in applications that solve unmet customer needs (technical + market visioning)
- Highly analytical and structured mindset, with the ability to work independently as an individual contributor
- Technical understanding of relative performance benefits of materials and their applications
- Commercial acumen: ability to assess future or current underserved needs of potential target applications and quantify their value to Outokumpu and the Value Chain
- Excellent research skills — both qualitative (field) and quantitative (data-driven)
- Strong external orientation and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and in a pioneering, unstructured environment
Location: You will be based in one of our main sites Krefeld - Germany, Avesta – Sweden, Tornio/ Helsinki – Finland
